1A Reg 3 SOFTBALL BI-DISTRICT FINAL
The Fruitvale Lady Cats and the Avery Lady Bulldogs battled for the Bi-District Championship on Wednesday Night. Fruitvale struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Emily Hodges reached on a error and Holly Hance came up next and singled. Hannah Craft was the next batter up and she hit a 3 run homerun to give the Lady Cats a 3-0 lead after the 1st inning. In the top of the 3rd inning, Avery’s Kristin Burkett reached base on an error and she came into score on a sacrifice fly by Riley Gilreath to cut the lead to 3-1. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Emily Hodges tripled to lead off the inning and Holly Hance brought her home with an RBI single. Hannah Craft singled and Ronnye Tull hit a 2 run double to bring in Hance and Craft. Jaci LaPrade hit an RBI single as well to give the Lady Cats a 7-1 lead after 3 innings. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Brooklynne Brown led off with a single and Hannah Craft brought her home with an RBI double. Ronnye Tull singled in the next at bat to bring Craft home and Fruitvale was up 9-1 after 4 innings. In the top of the 5th, Sara Dean hit a 2 run double to score Selena Maturino and Ana Resendiz. Mackenzie Arnold then double to bring in Dean and the lead was cut to 9-5. In the bottom of the 5th, Chasity Huber doubled to bring in Jaci LaPrade. Emily Hodges and Hannah Craft added RBI singles in the inning and Fruitvale was up 13-5 after 5 innings. In the top of the 6th, Avery added 4 more runs on 5 hits to cut the Lady Cat lead to 13-9. Fruitvale was held scoreless in the bottom of the 6th. In the top of the 7th, Avery scored 3 runs to get within a run of the Lady Cats. The Lady Bulldogs had runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs and Mackenzie Arnold up to bat. Arnold grounded out to shortstop and the Fruitvale Lady Cats held on to win 13-12. Leading the way for Fruitvale was Hannah Craft. She was 4-4 at the plate with 5 RBI’s and 3 runs scored. Ronnye Tull added 3 RBI’s as well. Fruitvale will face Union Hill next week in the Regional Quarterfinals.
