The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles faced off against the Union Grove Lady Lions in Game 1 of the Regional Quarterfinals Wednesday Night in Grand Saline. Bella Romero led the game off for Como-Pickton with a triple. Mattison Buster was intentionally walked an Alyssa Corona brought them both in with a single to give the Lady Eagles a 2-0 lead. Corona came in to score later in the inning and Como-Pickton led 3-0 after the 1st inning. In the top of the 2nd inning, Maggie Brown led the inning off with a walk and Bella Romero brought her home with an RBI single to give the Lady Eagles a 4-0 advantage after 2 innings. Como-Pickton left the bases loaded in the 3rd inning and we remained at 4-0 after 3 innings. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Union Grove got on the board following a solo home run by Sydney Chamberlain to cut the lead to 4-1 after 4 innings. Mattison Buster led off the top of the 5th inning, and she hit a solo home run over the left field wall to extend the lead out to 5-1 and the Como-Pickton Lady Eagles took game one over Union Grove by a score of 5-1. Bella Romero, Alyssa Corona and Mattison Buster all contributed with an RBI a piece for Como-Pickton at the plate. In the circle, Buster allowed just 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 11 and walking just 1 batter. For Union Grove, Jocy Suarez had 2 hits and Sydney Chamberlain had the 1 run on her solo home run. Game 2 is Friday at 6 pm at Grand Saline HS.
